Vancouver tech star gets even bigger

Vancouver tech star HootSuite announced this morning that it has acquired uberVu, a social analytics company out of Romania and Massachusetts. The move will help HootSuite offer more analysis to its high-paying enterprise clients—HootSuite claims these include 75% of Fortune 1000 companies—as uberVu has experience offering insight to over 200 clients, including a few big names like NBC, 3M and Heinz.
Financial details have not been disclosed, but the company had 42 employees, all of whom have been offered jobs. An acquisition is just another way HootSuite can bolster its burgeoning roster of employees. The company’s growth has been consistently rapid, especially since HootSuite received a record-setting $165-million round of funding late last summer.
With this latest buy, HootSuite should have around 400 employees, while an educated guess would peg the company’s overall value north of $1 billion. (The company’s valuation has not been disclosed for some time.)
For now, uberVU will be offered as a standalone service, but over the coming months HootSuite will be integrating the technology into its own platform.
“UberVU represents the next generation of analytics solutions,” HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes said in a news release, “and brings with it a world class product team.”
