1998 After a stint at a web-design startup, Lacavera founds Canopco Inc. (later a division of Globalive) upon graduating university.
2004 Pays $1 million for Canada Payphone Corp., a public phone operator, to add to his growing roster of telecom plays.
2006 Makes his biggest acquisition yet with the purchase of Yak Communications Inc., a discount provider of home-phone, long-distance and Internet services, for $76 million.
2007 Creates the Shamba Foundation, a non-profit that provides event space to charities at no cost.
2008 A version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof co-produced by Lacavera and starring James Earl Jones opens in New York. It debuts in London this December.
