Natural resources producers in Western Canada use extremely heavy vehicles and equipment and often work in hard to access terrain. Terrapro rents these producers wooden structures called ‰ÛÏaccess matting‰Û that they use on, say, temporary roadways at an exploration site or as a platform to support a drilling rig. Clients include large energy companies, such as Cenovus Energy and Imperial Oil. Terrapro had originally planned to enter the market by offering fibreglass-based composite mats that the firm figured would be superior to conventional wooden ones. But it opted for the traditional material after concluding that target clients weren‰Ûªt prepared to pay more for fibreglass mats.
