On Monday, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway made the largest acquisition in the company’s history, purchasing Precision Castparts Corp., a manufacturer of aerospace parts, for $32.3 billion. Despite bleak forecasts, the holding company has been placing expensive bets on traditional sectors of the U.S. economy.
