Pierre Karl Péladeau resumed active involvement in Quebecor Inc., the family’s media and cable firm, this year after a sojourn into provincial politics that was cut short last May. He resigned as an MNA and leader of the Parti Québécois just a year after becoming leader of Quebec’s official Opposition. A lot happened in between: He married longtime partner Julie Snyder, with whom he has two young children, in August 2015, but the couple separated five months later. In announcing his resignation, Péladeau said he had to make “an agonizing choice” between his family and his “political project.” He chose family. Now, with politics behind him, he’s back at the helm as president and CEO of Quebecor. The Péladeau brothers inherited a controlling stake in Quebecor from their father, Pierre Péladeau.
