#43: Marc-André Blanchard
CEO, McCarthy Tétrault
Why he matters: Keeps Big Law fresh
Blue-chip law firms aren’t exactly synonymous with innovation, but after Marc-André Blanchard was appointed head of McCarthy Tétrault, he introduced a new service-delivery model, upending the notion that all work must be done in-house. Blanchard outsourced elements to legal support services companies that could do it faster and cheaper, saving clients up to 30% in fees. Because of these changes, the Financial Times named McCarthy-Tétrault the most innovative law firm in Canada last year.
