#33: Elyse Allan
President & CEO, GE Canada
Why she matters: Influencing the future of major industries
Elyse Allan was recently chosen to sit on Alberta’s economic diversification panel, which will recommend ways for the province to wean itself off the struggling energy industry. Allan has also been instrumental in the formation of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, whose member companies have partnered with GE to develop technology that reduces the financial and environmental costs of energy extraction. GE Canada’s parent, meanwhile, is moving manufacturing jobs back to North America; Allan could help secure some of those jobs for Canada.
