Job Description:

Being a pharmacist isn’t so simple as just filling doctors’ prescriptions, it also means meticulously updating medical records, advising customers on how to take their medicine, hiring staff, and managing inventory.

Job Qualifications:

This job requires a degree in pharmacology. Once you’ve got that down, you need to complete an examination with the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (unless you’re in Quebec), and a period of apprenticeship or internship. You’ll also need to be registered as a pharmacist with your province’s college.

Salary:

Even though pharmacists have seen the lowest five-year wage growth of Canada’s Top 25 Best Jobs, at 9.4%, pharmacists in Canada can expect a median salary around $100,000.

Career Opportunity:

The Government of Canada projects a shortage of pharmacists across Canada, at least until 2024.
