11. TD Bank
Last Year: 9
TD consistently towers over its big-bank rivals in our ranking, and to understand why, you have to go way back to 2001, when Toronto-Dominion bought Canada Trust. Canada Trust had always sold itself as the anti-bank, boasting such revolutionary (at the time) features as 24-hour telephone banking and extended branch hours. The newly merged TD focused on winning over its 3.7 million Canada Trust customers by adopting many of those service innovations. The result was a bank that enjoys a much higher rating for customer service than its competitors.
