We put together a virtual portfolio of the publicly traded equities held by members of Canadian Business’s Rich 100. Since the average investor steers clear of illiquid securities like multiple voting shares and preferred shares we strip those securities out before we calculate the performance of the portfolio over the past year. The holdings in this simulated portfolio are weighted by total dollar value to match their importance to the wealth of the Rich 100.
