If you have an online shop, you know the pain of customers loading up their carts and then abandoning them before processing payment. New research delves into why online shoppers choose not to close the deal.

According to research aggregated by U.K.-based couponing site, 57% of online consumers will abandon a site within three seconds if a page doesn’t load. And 80% of these people won’t return. The average length of a checkout process among the top 100 grossing e-commerce sites, counting from “cart page” to the page on which the order is placed (most often a “review order” page) is about five minutes. If yours takes longer, you may be losing sales.
