TSX Venture financing of growth firms soars 72%

Growth companies are raising far more capital on the TSX Venture Exchange than just a year ago. Figures from the TSX Group show new equity financing on the TSX-V in the first half of 2006 was up 72% over the first half of 2005.

Companies listed on the TSX-V raised $4.61 billion in the first six months of 2006, versus $2.69 billion in the same period a year earlier. Other data from the exchange showed the same exponential growth in Canada’s public venture capital market. Total market capitalization of companies listed on the TSX-V reached $46.1 billion in June 2006, up 77% over June 2005. And the average daily value of trading in the first six months of 2006 was $155.1 million, up 156% over the same period a year earlier.
