The feud: the Peace Bridge battle

Americans and Canadians are battling it out over the Peace Bridge

The conflict: Americans and Canadians are battling it out over the Peace Bridge, which links Fort Erie, Ont., to Buffalo, N.Y. Americans on the binational authority overseeing the bridge are accusing Canadians of foot-dragging on a redevelopment project on the U.S. side, and Cuomo said the bridge is a “metaphor for dysfunction.”

The outcome: Annunziata, a Canadian, called Cuomo’s comment “incredibly arrogant and insulting,” and contends delays are the fault of U.S. authorities. (Annunziata also once referred to a female bridge project manager as “the governor’s concubine.” He later apologized.) Authority board members will have a chance to restore the peace when they meet again at the end of June.
