BlackBerry wants to ‘set the story straight’ about its enterprise services

CEO posts new open letter

New BlackBerry CEO John Chen is attempting to fend off competitors with yet another open letter, this time by issuing an appeal to BlackBerry Enterprise clients.

In the letter, published Monday, Chen tells BlackBerry clients to ignore what they might be hearing from competitors—that, for example, BlackBerry enterprise services only work with BlackBerry devices and are more expensive than other enterprise mobility management (EMM) services.

“This is false,” Chen states, as BlackBerry is looking to “turbo-charge” its efforts to allow organizations with a BYOD (bring your own device) policy the same benefits as companies who issue BlackBerry handsets to all employees.

Despite BlackBerry’s recent troubles with finding a buyer, Chen also insists that the company is “in the game for the long term,” and will continue to research and develop its handsets and EMM services.

“In short, reports of our death are greatly exaggerated,” he writes.
