1960 – Joins the RCMP, taking on a variety of jobs, including work as an undercover detective in the drug trade.
1968 – Leaves the RCMP to start a Boston Pizza franchise in Penticton, B.C.
1983 – With his business partner, George Melville, buys the Boston Pizza chain from owner Ron Coyle. It now has 384 locations across North America.
1997 – Co-founds T&M Management Services Ltd., which now owns Boston Pizza as well as stakes in many businesses, including Mr. Lube and Global Entertainment.
2006 – Stars in the CBC reality TV show Dragons’ Den, which features people trying to get venture capital.
