MONTREAL – The U.S. army has selected CAE Inc. to train about 600 pilots annually for up to eight years at new centre that the Montreal-based company (TSX:CAE) will build and operate in Alabama near Fort Rucker.
The flight simulator manufacturer and training company says it will receive more than US$29 million over the initial two-year portion of the contract and about US$200 million if it’s extended to Sept. 30, 2023.
CAE says it will manufacture a suite of training equipment for the contract including two full simultors that mimic the cockpits of C-12 King Air propeller-driven cargo planes used by the U.S. army and air force.
CAE instructors will also provide live flying training with a fleet of 10 King Air planes owned by the U.S. army and operate a new training centre at Dothan regional airport in Alabama, near the army’s aviation center at Fort Rucker.
