The sporting goods retailer announced better-than-expected quarterly results and raised its projections for the year.

Praxair Inc., up $3.24 to $121.27

The industrial gas maker said it’s in talks with German competitor Linde about a possible merger.

CenturyLink Inc., down 60 cents to $29.42

Phone companies dipped as investors sold the safe investments they favoured earlier in 2016.

TJX Cos., down $4.80 to $77.97

The parent of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and other stores forecast a disappointing third-quarter profit.
