Some options for kids' clothes that defy gender norms

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Parents who want to dress their kids in clothes that upend gender stereotypes have a small but growing number of options. Some of the clothes are unisex basics. Others are for either boys or girls, but invert conventions by offering pink shirts for boys or dresses that sport rockets and trains.

PRODUCTS: Dresses featuring images of rockets, dinosaurs or trains that are more commonly seen on boys’ clothes.

PRODUCTS: A gender-neutral T-shirt collection began with pink and now offers different colours and motifs like sharks and cars.

BRAND: Target’s Cat & Jack collection.

PRODUCTS: The clothes include a group of T-shirts for both boys and girls that have a unisex fit and feature messages such as “Future Astronaut” and “Smart & Strong.” Some T-shirts for girls have dinosaurs and planet motifs.
