Some details of a recent poll of businesses on the issue of labour mobility

OTTAWA – Some facts and figures on a survey conducted in December by the Canadian Employee Relocation Council on the federal government crackdown on the temporary foreign workers crackdown:

— Top three industry sectors that responded to the survey: Professional scientific and technical services, 28 per cent; mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction, nine per cent; retail-wholesale trade, eight per cent.

— Percentage of companies reporting that changes to the temporary foreign worker program have had an impact on their operations: 85 per cent

— Percentage of companies that say the crackdown has increased costs: 62 per cent

— Percentage of companies that say it’s delayed the completion of contracts and projects: 55 per cent

— Percentage of companies that say they’ve lost business opportunities: 35 per cent

— Percentage of companies that say they’ve had to move work or projects out of Canada: 30 per cent
