QUEBEC – Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitao will table the provincial budget on March 17.
The 2016-17 budget will come down five days before federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau delivers his.
Leitao told reporters in Quebec City on Thursday he expects a balanced budget.
He says any eventual surplus would go to reducing the province’s massive debt.
Leitao’s economic update from last November said Quebec was also on the way to a balanced budget for the current fiscal year, which ends March 31.
Ontario’s 2016-17 budget, which was tabled Thursday, projects a deficit of $4.6 billion.
