New 'Call of Duty' video game will be released next week, Wal-Mart starts selling used games

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The latest installment in the blockbuster “Call of Duty” video game franchise goes on sale next week, and retailers including Best Buy and Wal-Mart will sell a special edition of the game beginning one day early.

For its millions of fans, “Call of Duty” launches amount to a holiday each year.

Several retailers will be selling a special “Day Zero” edition of “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” 24 hours before the new game’s official release next Tuesday. The “Day Zero” edition not only comes out a day early, but will include special features.

The special edition game will be available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy and other stores starting at 12:01 a.m. Monday. The regular edition, which is the same game without the extras, comes out on Tuesday. Each version will cost $60.

The launch coincides with Walmart’s announcement that it has started selling used video games in 1,700 of its stores. The retail giant started taking used games for trade in March, in exchange for gift cards.

Shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. fell 52 cents to $76.07 in afternoon trading. Shares of Activision Blizzard Inc., which publishes the game, rose 19 cents to $19.19.
