Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (TSX:CM). Bank. Down $2.56, or 2.55 per cent, to $97.92 on 4.3 million shares. After signalling for years that it was looking to increase its presence south of the border, CIBC announced Wednesday that it has entered into a deal to buy Chicago-based PrivateBancorp for C$4.9 billion. Several analysts called the deal pricey and noted that it will likely be several years before it boosts the Canadian bank’s earnings.
