Markets Right Now: Stocks open lower after 4 weeks of gains

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The latest on developments in global financial markets (all times local):

Stocks are opening moderately lower on Wall Street as the market pulls back after a four-week gain that brought it to record highs.

Kimberly-Clark, which makes consumer products including Kleenex and Huggies diapers, fell 1 per cent after reporting disappointing sales outside the U.S.

Yahoo fell 1 per cent after Verizon announced a deal to buy the company’s internet businesses.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 57 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 18,513.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell 6 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 2,168. The Nasdaq composite was down 6 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 5,093.

Bond prices barely budged. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note held steady at 1.56 per cent.
