Keys to big Saskatoon-based trucking company handed to U.S. buyer

SASKATOON – A big Saskatoon-based trucking company is rolling down the highway into the hands of a U.S. buyer

The Yanke Group has been sold to the Indianapolis-based Celadon Group.

The deal is expected to make Celadon one of the largest carriers in Canada, with more that 800 drivers in their Canadian fleet.

Yanke CEO Russel Marcoux says virtually all the company’s drivers will be offered employment with the new owner, but the Saskatoon office will close resulting in layoffs.

Yanke is considered one of Saskatoon’s largest employers and generated about $90 million in revenue in 2012.

A statement posted on Celadon’s website from president and CEO Paul Will says the company is looking forward to continuing to provide the quality service that the Yanke core account base has come to expect. (CKOM)
