The stock market surged for a second day on Thursday, pushing major indexes back into positive territory for the year. Stocks rose on speculation that the world’s central banks will continue their policies to bolster economic growth. The market also got a lift from an encouraging jobs report and stabilizing oil prices.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 323.35 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 17,907.87.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 36.24 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 2,062.14.
The Nasdaq composite rose 85.72 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 4,736.19.

The Dow is up 74.88 points, or 0.4 per cent.
The S&P 500 is up 3.94 points, or 0.2 per cent.
The Nasdaq composite is up 9.37 points, or 0.2 per cent
For the year:
The Dow is up 84.80 points, or 0.5 per cent.
The S&P 500 is up 3.24 points, or 0.2 per cent.
The Nasdaq composite is up 0.13 point, less than 0.1 per cent.
