DETROIT – General Motors says its November U.S. sales rose nearly 14 per cent on strong demand for pickup trucks, SUVs and large cars.
The company says it sold more than 212,000 cars and trucks last month, up from nearly 187,000 a year ago.
Sales of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup, GM’s top-selling vehicle, rose 12 per cent and sales of the GMC Sierra pickup increased 23 per cent.
GM’s increase outpaced crosstown rival Ford, which reported a 7 per cent gain.
GM also was helped by sales of the Chevy Tahoe SUV, which rose 23 per cent, and the Chevy Impala, which was up more than 20 per cent.
Healthy increases from GM and Chrysler are signs that U.S. sales will rise over November of last year, a strong month because of sales delayed by Superstorm Sandy.
