DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Firefighters say they’ve extinguished a blaze at a 32-story office and retail building in Dubai.
Dubai civil defence officials say the fire at the Regal Tower in Dubai’s Business Bay neighbourhood started around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Brigadier Ahmad Obaid al-Sayegh, the acting director of Dubai’s civil defence force, told The Associated Press that it wasn’t a major fire. Social media footage of it shows a blaze burning the facade on the building’s top floors.
Fires have affected several skyscrapers in the United Arab Emirates, including one in February that broke out at Dubai’s 86-story Torch tower, one of the world’s tallest residential towers. Another struck a building in Dubai’s Deira neighbourhood Monday night, forcing authorities to shut down part of the city’s metro.
