MONTREAL – CGI Group Inc. (TSX:GIB.A) could receive about $220 million in revenue over four years through a contract from the Swedish transport administration.
The Montreal-based company has been hired to work with Trafikverket’s own information technology department and manage its software and application development. CGI says Trafikverket has options to extend the contract.
Trafikverket is responsible for the long-term planning of Swedish transport systems, as well as state road networks and the country’s national railway network. It has 6,500 employees in Borlange in northern Sweden.
“We’re very proud of the confidence Trafikverket has placed in CGI, and we look forward to helping Trafikverket streamline and enhance its IT operations,” Bengt-Goran Kangas, CGI’s vice-president for public sector work in Sweden, said in a news release on Thursday.
“With our local presence and access to specialists all over the world, we can deliver cost-effective and smart IT solutions that benefit not only Trafikverket but the citizens its serves,” Kangas said.
CGI will work with joint collaborators Knowit, Headlight and Altran in supporting Trafikverket.
