MONTREAL – A group led by Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B) has been selected as the leading contender for a rail contract to be awarded in December by the Australian state of Queensland.
The state’s transportation department is in the final stages of negotiating the purchase of 75 six-car trains as well as related maintenance services.
Bombardier Transportation Australia leads a four-member group vying for the contract, which has been up against a consortium that includes Mitsubishi.
The project’s potential cost wasn’t disclosed Wednesday by Bombardier or the state government.
