Bell Helicopter chopper with 2 on board crashes in Texas

BELL BRANCH, Texas – A Bell Helicopter aircraft on a test flight with two people on board has crashed in a rural area about 40 miles south of Dallas.

A Federal Aviation Administration statement says the twin-engine helicopter was destroyed in the accident late Wednesday morning in Ellis County. Officials had no immediate information on the fate of the two people aboard the Bell 525.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the helicopter crashed near the towns of Bell Branch and Italy (IT’-lee).

A Bell Helicopter statement says the company was conducting developmental flight test operations from its Arlington facility when the helicopter crashed. Bell Helicopter didn’t immediately provide additional details.

Emergency officials in Ellis County didn’t immediately respond to messages Wednesday afternoon.
