The Mountain View, California-based company said it had profit of $7.25 per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense, came to $9.06 per share.
The Internet search leader posted revenue of $18.27 billion in the period.
Alphabet shares have increased roughly 5 per cent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has increased slightly more than 4 per cent. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $795.35, a rise of 12 per cent in the last 12 months.
