Two-way street

With all of the fearful talk of sovereign wealth funds taking over North America its worthwhile to note when Canadian organizations are investing around the globe.
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Teachers Private Capital, the Ontario Teachers Pension Plans private investment arm, have each invested US$200 million in FountainVest, a private equity fund created to pursue private enterprise investments in China. To be clear, neither the CPPIB nor Teachers would be classified as sovereign wealth funds as they do not invest government money.
Expect to see more moves of this type as the CPPIB also announced today theyve opened a Hong Kong office.
