Sanity at last

Well, just when you think the world couldnt get any wackier, somebody somewhere goes and does something thatswell, completely sane.
The somebody in question today is the collective Venezuelan people, who bucked the propaganda, the bombast and the bullying to vote down Hugo Chavezs bid to become effective dictator for life. (OK, not strictly for life. He said he would rule until 2050, making him 95 or so. Whatever.)
Whats the fallout? Well, its good for the price of Venezuelan bonds, which had been plummeting for months in advance of todays vote. Good for the long-term stability of the world oil markets. Good for the hard-done forces of democracy. And good, by the way, for Venezuelans.
