Well, the superb job numbers released last Friday once again impressed headline writers around the country, as employment rose and the economy posted yet another 33-year low in the unemployment rate.
But nothing much changed from my last post (see Oct. 5, below), in that the bulk of the new jobs came from the public sector, and in fact the private sector has lost jobs over the first nine months of the year.
From a broad view of economic activity, a job is a job, public or private. But isnt there something worrisome about the fact that government is growing while for-profit businesses in Canada are not?
