Google Chrome's lead on Internet Explorer grows strong in July

But it's now another browser taking the biggest beating: Firefox.

Earlier this year, Google Chrome passed Microsoft Internet Explorer to become the most popular web browser in the world. While the lead is somewhat contentious, what’s clear is that Chrome is showing no signs of slowing down. In July, Chrome had an almost 2% lead over Explorer, according to StatCounter.

But what’s perhaps most interesting about the chart below is that Mozilla Firefox is now plummeting faster than Explorer. The browser has been losing its base to Chrome and has had a rough couple of years, but up until now the decline had been slow-going. Now it’s nosediving, and Explorer, at least since May, has more or less leveled out, which is good news for Microsoft.

Meanwhile, Opera continues to, well, exist.
