The Revenue Canada Agency must love people between the ages of 35 and 64. These are the age groups that contribute the most tax revenue to its coffers. According to statistics from 2008 returns, they represent just over one-half of all taxpayers and remit almost 75% of the tax. Individuals aged 35-54 alone paid 52.4% of all taxes. On the other ends of the scale, those under 25 represented about an eighth of taxpayers but only contributed 2.2% of taxes. People 65 and over comprised about 18% of people who filed returns and paid about 12.5% of all tax.
