If you become ill, there are more people per capita to take care of you in Prince Edward Island than anywhere else in the country, according to the 2006 census. There are more than 35 people per 1,000 population employed in health occupations in PEI compared to 28 per 1,000 in Alberta and 33 per 1,000 on average in Canada. In total, there were over 950,000 people working in 35 different classifications of health occupations across the country.
